Formerly the capital of Nigeria, Lagos's uncontrolled population growth has made one of the world's largest cities one of the world's largest slums.
Tens of thousands of refugees are fleeing an upsurge of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The fighting has been taking place near Goma in the east of the country.
