Joan Sutherland's "the Art of the Primadonna" is certainly well known to opera lovers. Sutherland was always a most wonderful singer, but this was one of her best (if not THE best) recordings. Presented here, is the aria of Queen Semiramide from Rossini's "Semiramide". There are numerous versions of this aria, but, for me this will always be the best.

Semiramide's aria in act I scene II where she sings of her passionate love for the man she hopes to marry ...The Assyrian Army Captain, Arsace ... who, unbeknownst to her ... or anyone for that matter ... is her son ! this is from a live performance in Sydney in 1983.
